How to Arrange a Visit

We strongly encourage prospective students and their families to visit the University and College. Several options for doing this are listed below. In general, we recommend that prospective students attend the annual fall University open house. If this is not possible, we suggest a campus tour arranged through the University’s Lodewick Visitors Center coupled with a visit to the College department of interest.

University Open House

The University sponsors two open house events each year. The fall open house takes place in the latter half of September and the spring open house is held in late April.  Prospective students that are high school seniors are especially encouraged to attend the fall open house. This is the best opportunity to learn about the admissions process, financial aid, housing and student life, and to attend informational sessions specific to your area(s) of interest.  Information on open house events can be obtained by contacting the University’s Undergraduate Admissions Office on the Web or at (860) 486-3137.

Lodewick Visitors Center

The Lodewick Visitors Center (phone: (860) 486-4900) is located on the northwest corner of the Storrs campus. Contact the center to arrange for a guided campus tour  and for other suggestions regarding your visit to the University campus.

Departments in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources

Our academic departments welcome the opportunity to visit with prospective students and their families. If you wish to meet with faculty or staff to learn about curricula and activities associated with a given department, we encourage you to contact the respective unit directly. At times, it can be challenging for departments to accommodate all of the requests that they receive. Therefore we ask that you please try to schedule a date and time as far in advance as possible.

Husky-for-a-Day Program

Prospective students can attend classes with a current student, sample meals at a dining facility, and visit residence halls. This is a great way to get the “feel” of the University. For more information call (860) 486-1601 or email hap@uconn.edu.
